"Francis" Original Framed Hound Dog Linocut #19/30 Frame #16

$265.00

This is an original hand pulled linocut print featuring a hound dog named Francis. I design, draw, carve, and print each piece by hand in my home studio. Your print may differ slightly from the photo as each print is unique due to the handmade nature of the product. This insures that your artwork is one of a kind.

You may remember Fred, international spy dog extraordinaire. This is his sister Francis. She also has a very specialized nose and can smell out danger as well as Fred, but when Francis smells anything amiss she bays. And she doesn’t just bay - she lets lose with gusto. She doesn’t sit politely and wait for help to arrive. She bays as if her life depended on it and she does not stop. Sometimes this is not the most effective way to deal with criminal enterprises so she tends to stay home and alert the family to the squirrels, chipmunks, deer, elk, occasional bear, and the neighbors horses. They feel very well informed of any shenanigans going on outside of their home.

Frame:

Our frames are made from trees we log with mules in western Montana. The logs are either fire killed or from thinning projects with the goal of reducing wildfire hazard. We mill the logs into frame profiles on our sawmill and assemble them in our Montana shop. As we build our frames we do not cull out the pieces of wood that show the history of the trees and the forest they came from. We find those areas in the wood to be the most interesting aspects and they allude to the story of the tree. Some of our frames have knot holes, some have larvae holes and some are clear. Some have tight vertical grain and some have wide flat grain. All these marks tell the story of the tree and its history.
